This lovely looking lamp is a WW2 Hurricane / Spitfire Aircraft Clear Tail light and Housing RAF Stores No. 5C/498. In great condition with some surface scuffs and blemishes commensurate with age and use.

The rim of the bulb holder (in contact with the glass) is labelled:
5C 498 where 5C = Aircraft Electrical

and the rear bulb holder is labelled; 5CX/50l where 5CX= Aircraft Electrical Lamps, Indicators, Lampholders and Accessory Items.
The iconic Hurricane and Spitfire Warbirds had three Navigational lights, coloured amber/red and blue on the wings, and clear on the tail.
