Op Art Lucite Hand knotted  Geometric Shapes Necklace In Clear, Black & Brown Colours

This is a beautiful Op Art Lucite Hand knotted Geometric Shapes Necklace In Clear, Black & Brown Colours with a black string. In very good condition with some micro scratches visible on close inspection.

Dating to the 1960s, the necklace is approximately 30 inch in total length. It is typically Op Art in style with the pattern, colours creating an optical illusion. There is no clasp, the necklace just fits over the head.

The lozenge shapes are symmetrical on each side of the necklace and are faced with clear early plastic sandwiched with either dark black, light black or beige centres. The shapes can be gently twisted so the face appears with a solid colour or showing off the middle: please see images.

There is a mark on the side of one of the black rectangular lozenges which looks like CC back to back but with the two Cs separated. Whether or not this is a maker's mark or scratches from the original owner is anyone's guess. It would be wonderful if it could be attributed to Coco Chanel (where the brand CCs are interlaced and mirrored) but I can't prove this. 

Still, a lovely piece of relatively unique costume jewellery which would make a great addition to any collection.
