1940s WW2 RCA Aircraft Receiver Model AVR-20 Used By Military Spotter Aircraft
This wonderful small piece of communications radio equipment is a 1940s WW2 RCA Aircraft Receiver Model AVR-20 Used By Military Spotter Aircraft e.g. the Stinson L5 Sentinel and civilian light aircraft.
Approximate Size (WHD):
- 16.5 x 14.0 x 16.5 cm (including knobs)
In fairly good used cosmetic condition, with scuffs and blemishes, this receiver is being sold as a collectible for display only. It is a real piece of WW2 Radio Communications history! I'm not sure if this a 6V or 12v version as it isn't marked.
Made from black coated non-ferrous metal, with bakelite and metal knobs and connectors, this is a summary specification:-
- Valve Radio Receiver
- Type AVR-20
- Reg. US Pat. Off and Marca Megistrada
- Serial no. 1105
- AVR-20
- Short Wave
- External Power Supply required (not included)
- Weight: 6.2 llb
- C.A.A.T.C 235
- 2300-6700 Hz
It would have been used, as shown in the appended schematic, in conjunction with an AVT-15 transmitter and AVA-120 antenna.
