1930s Art Deco Samford Ware Fantasy Dripware Jug In Black And Blue
This is a gorgeous 1930s Art Deco Samford Ware Fantasy Dripware Jug In Black And Blue.
It has a typically sinuous Art Deco shape with the hand painted black dripping gracefully over the blue and white. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. It does have manufacturing defects, and the 'drips' are not symmetrical but these defects are cosmetic and do not detract from what is a wonderful jug!
* Approximate Size:
- Height: 17.8cm (7″)
- Base Diameter: 9cm
- Maximum width: Handle to lip: 17.8 cm
Made by Samuel Ford & Co (Samford Ware) of Crown Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire. The backstamp dates from 1936-1939 (when the company closed) and also includes the pattern name 'Fantasy.'
This jug design was created in many different colour ways including; oranges, pinks and greens. The blue, black and white colouring is more unusual and very contemporary!
NB: The photographs have been taken with and without flash hence the differences in colour.
