1920s Western Electric UK Bakelite Crystal Set Headphones 2000 Ohms. Made in England by Western Electric Co. Ltd of Connaught House, 63 Aldwych, London WC2. The company changed its name to Standard Telephones and Cables Ltd in 1925, hence these headphones were made pre-1925!

The headphones are in fairly good cosmetic condition with surface scuffs and blemishes commensurate with age and use.  Comprising black bakelite moulded ear pieces, with an aluminium double headband, and twisted flexible leads terminating in original 2mm crystal set pins. The leather is missing from the headband.

The lead is frayed in parts, which has resulted in no continuity in the lead pins, but an impedance of approximately 2000Ω has been measured from each ear piece. Hence, the headphones should work if the lead is replaced.

The ear pieces are marked with two, now illegible, labels:-

The smaller one is the BBC label (type approved by the Post Master General), and the second would have read:-
