WW2 WS38 MK1/2 MTLL No.2 MkI Throat Microphone ZA 13935 In Its Original Box

This wonderful looking historic device is a WW2 WS38 MK1/2 MTLL No.2 MkI Throat Microphone ZA 13935 In Its Original Box. It has a black neck band, rubber covers and a PVC cord culminating in a jack plug.

In very good cosmetic condition with some surface scuffs and blemishes. It comprises two carbon microphones, which attach to a bakelite junction box before connecting the microphone to the Wireless set 38 and a set of headphones: the latter two items are not included.

Sound was picked up & transmitted as vibrations through the carbon microphone worn just above the Adam's Apple. Air and tanks crews reported that voices could be heard better over background engine noise better than other types of microphones.

It is marked on the rear centre metal label:-

MTL No.2 ZA 13935

The box is marked: Microphone Throat Low Level No.2 ZA13935
