WW2 British B2 Type 3 Spy Radio Set Transmitter TX

This wonderful looking piece is a WW2 British B2 Type 3 Spy Radio Set Transmitter TX.  

Please study all photographs carefully as they show the condition of this scarce spy set TX.

In fairly good condition, two of the knobs are not original; the waveband and crystal selector have been replaced with contemporary knobs. Two of the original screws securing the front plate to the casing are missing.

Externally, the casing retains nearly all of its crackle finish with slight loss to the edges. The wiring that enters the TX through a grommet on the front panel is not original and terminates in wander plugs. Looking at the internals, a valve topcap clip is missing but the remainder of the TX looks unmodified. Please study the photos carefully to verify the true condition.

The B2 transmitter uses just two valves, a VT52 as a crystal oscillator and a 6L6 as a power amplifier.

The transmitter was probably made by the Marconi Company or the Radio Communication Department of the SOE (Special Operations Directive), based at Stonebridge Park, during WW2.
