Western Electric (U.S.A) developed this dynamic mic in the late 1930s. It’s omnidirectional to 15 kHz when used vertically, and semi-directional when used horizontally.
The 630A microphone design has been much venerated for the high quality of the instrument, and its reliable performance in studio work and acoustical measurements. It was used as the main Talk-back microphone by the BBC from the 1950s until the late-80s!
For illustrative purposes, I’ve included an image of an original 1940s advert for the 630A. The advert is not included in this sale.
I’ve also appended an original 1940s advert for the 4069A connector. The connector and advert are not included in this sale.
A bit of glam and history for your shack or lounge!
