Vintage Tabletop Toy 10-Pin Bowling Game By Tomy
This Vintage Tabletop Toy 10-Pin Bowling Game By Tomy is in pretty good working condition.
Approximate Size:
- Height (including bowler): 13cm
- Width: 48.4cm (~19 inches)
- Depth: 13.8cm
Dating to the 1960s/70s, it was made by Japanese Toy company, Tomy, at their Hong Kong division.
There is discolouration to the plastic, particularly the white bowling pins, and scuff marks and blemishes commensurate with age and use. The transfer print on the bowler is creased and has been mended. The original chrome bowling ball(s) has been replaced with 5 marbles.
Made from plastic and metal, the ball (in this case a marble) is placed in the bowler's hand. The bowler can be rotated to improve placement on the bowling lane. You then press the lever, at the back of the bowler, aiming at the metal probes sticking up just in front of the plastic bowling pins. If you hit one of the probes a number of the pins will retract.
To reset the pins, you just press the yellow button adjacent to the bowler.
I didn't find it easy to play as you're not actually aiming at the bowling pins! It's good fun all the same!
A nice useable toy which would have been pretty expensive when new. In pristine condition these vintage Tomy 'bowling games' command quite high prices (£60-120). This one has been more realistically priced as it has been played with and lacks the original box.
