Novelty Transistor Radio In The Shape of a Crompton Vidor HP2 High Power Battery
This is a fantastic vintage Novelty Transistor Radio In The Shape of a Crompton Vidor HP2 High Power Battery.
An AM only radio, which has just two thumb wheel controls; one for volume and other for tuning. The speaker is underneath the grille at the top of the radio.
Approximate Size:
- Diameter: 6.7cm
- Height: 13cm (including the metal contact)
In working order, the cylindrical metal case does have a few scuffs and scratches but what a statement piece! It takes a PP3 battery, which is inserted by rotating and removing the plastic base cover: the battery is not included due to the difficulties in shipping. Receiving a decent signal can be a little time consuming but being near a window seems to help...
Obviously an advertising piece for a Vidor battery, it dates to about the 1970s. It was made in Hong Kong.
