It's in very good condition for its age and could be used to store lots of small knick knacks, including small tools, or used as a make-up case or sewing box. There are a few surface scratches and blemishes commensurate with age and use.
Beautifully made from a phenolic early plastic resin, which makes it smell slightly of antiseptic, it has a Flatta, (lays flat), leather Handle stamped with 'Flatta' and 'Patent.' The metal handle ends are stamped Flatta, Made in England, English Patent 307287/27, which dates to 1927. The sturdy corners and fittings are made from non-ferrous metal.
The case also has two sets of rubber feet so that it can be safely set down on its back when being carried, (the handle is on the front side of the case), and on its base when the case lid is open.
