1970s SylvaC Ware Model 5282 White Heraldic Brass Rubbing Tankard

This is an unusual and quite rare 1960s/70s SylvaC Ware Model 5282 White Heraldic Brass Rubbing Tankard. It is one of a series of brass rubbing tankards produced until the demise of SylvaC in the 1980s; they are often found in black with a gold effigy and rarely in white.

The mediaeval knight, pictured on the side of the tankard, is based on a brass rubbing, by Walter J.Kaye, of Sir William de Aldeburgh at Aldborough, Yorks.

The effigy of Sir William (c.1360) is from the north aisle of Aldborough Church, near Boroughbidge, Yorkshire. He is wearing chain mail and sollerets (long pointed shoes), and is carrying a shield emblazoned with his coat of arms.

This is a fine item for collectors of SylvaC, Heraldic objects, and brass rubbings. You could also use it for display as a water pitcher or a vase.
