WW2 USAF Aircraft Radio Control Unit C35 / ARR-2A With Mounting Plate

This is a WW2 USAF Aircraft Radio Control Unit C35 / ARR-2A With Mounting Plate.

In good unused condition, with a few minor surface blemishes, it has not been tested.

Approximate Size (WHD): 8.3 x 14.5  x 6cm (including knob)

It would have been the controller made to accompany a R-4 aircraft receiver  including the *AN/ARR-2 , AN/ARR-2A or AN/ARR-2AX, part of an Aircraft Homing Unit, used for navigation or communication. The receiver is not included.

It was probably made by either Western Electric or Zenith 

This type of device was also used on iconic aircraft such as the AM-1 Mauler, AD-1 Skyraider, SB2c-5 Helldiver and TBM-3 Avenger, and in aircraft to aircraft carrier homing.
