WW2 US Army Signal Corps Throat Microphone T-30-F Made By Western Electric

This wonderful looking historic device is an unboxed WW2 US Army Signal Corps Throat Microphone T-30-F Made By Western Electric, New Jersey, USA.

The T-30 microphone has lead to a two-pronged PL-291 plug, which would have been connected to a JK-48 jack on a SW-141 push-to-talk switch (the latter two items are not included).

This throat microphone is in very good cosmetic condition, and still has the original elastic neckband. The 2-prong plug appears to have solder on the prongs; I haven't attempted to remove it. The mic. is unboxed and without instructions, the latter of which are available to download from the internet.

It is marked on the side in red with SC6296A, and embossed with:-
Western Electric T-30-F

A fantastic collectible artefact for all collectors of Militaria and amateur radio enthusiasts.

The T-30 were the preferred microphones of the WW2 United States Army Air Force but were also used by tank crews. Sound was picked up & transmitted as vibrations through a carbon microphone worn just above the Adam's Apple . Air crew reported that voices could be heard better over background engine noise better than other types of microphones.
