WW2 Price Brothers Inc. Type 52 Radio Antenna Changeover TX/RX Relay

This strange looking device is possibly a vintage WW2 Price Brothers Inc. Type 52 Radio Antenna Changeover TX/RX Relay. In pretty good cosmetic condition with a few scuffs and blemishes; it is untested.

I have absolutely no idea what it was used for, and have barely found any information on the internet about the device or the manufacturer...

Operated by a solenoid which throws a double pole switch from one pair of ceramic posts, topped with aluminium connectors, to the other pair. One of the ceramic posts is topped with a 1.7cm diameter non-ferrous ball. We think it would have been used in a high voltage environment.

There is a metal label with :-

Type 52, Price Bros Inc. Frederick, MD, USA

It is stamped 25 VDC and Tested 19 VDC Horizontal pos.

Approximate Size:

  • Width:  6.9 cm
  • Height:  9 cm
  • Length: 17.2 cm

Made from aluminium, ferrous metal and ceramic accents, this device was manufactured in the U.S, by ‘Price Bros. Inc., Frederick, M.D. The company purportedly produced electrical and mechanical devices mainly for radio communication, and were particularly noted for their contribution to the war effort in WW2.

Extremely rare, this curio would be a real conversation or museum piece! We are selling it as a display item only.
