WW2 Britains Toy Diecast Anti Aircraft Searchlight Model 1718

This wonderful looking vintage toy is a WW2 Britains Toy Diecast Anti Aircraft Searchlight in its original khaki green paint. 

The owner had the toy from new in 1939 until he passed away aged 93. 

Approximate Size: 1/32 scale

• Height: 5.6cm (with lamp in the horizontal position)
  
• Base Diameter: 4cm
• Max. Base Depth:5.5cm
• Width (including lever): 13cm

The searchlight is in fairly good but non-lighting condition due to the 3 volt bulb not screwing properly in to the bulb holder. There is power to the lamp once connected to an appropriate power source e.g. 2x 1.5v dry cells or 3v power supply.  It does have a few surface blemishes commensurate with age and use, and some small areas of rust.

Britains Ltd produced some wonderful tinplate toys which were extremely well engineered. This searchlight has one turning screw (broken) at the end of lever. Turning the end of the lever allows the search light to be directed upwards and downwards. It also rotates by manually moving the lever clockwise or anticlockwise via the turning circle on the base.
