WW2 Air Ministry Voltmeter 5A/1693 In A Wooden Box

This lovely little black coated meter is a WW2 Air Ministry Voltmeter 5A/1693 In A Wooden Box. Probably made by The Weir Electrical Instrument Co.Ltd, manufacturers of electronics and established in Bradford upon Avon, UK, in 1937. They are now part of P&B Weir Electrical Ltd.

The face of the meter is in pretty good condition with some surface storage marks/dust. The brown wood box, complete with brass connectors on top and a leather handle, does have surface blemishes and scratches.

Approximate Meter Size:

  • Face Diameter: 4.5 cm

The meter has the following markings (some of which are barely visible):

  • A.M (Air Ministry)
  • Ref 5A/1693 (5A is the RAF stores reference for Electrical Ground Lighting)
  • 1940
  • Logo for The Weir Electrical Instrument Co.Ltd
  • Range 0-40 volts

NB: The box is darker than it appears in the photos.

A great little collectible for those whom love vintage tests, meters and measures
