WW1 Royal Navy 2-Pole Knife / Aerial Switch Pattern 1549 As Used In A Radio Receiver Outfit C
This is a WW1 Royal Navy 2-Pole Knife / Aerial Switch Pattern 1549 As Used In A Radio Receiver Outfit C introduced in 1912.
It is in pretty good cosmetic condition, with a few surface blemishes and discolouration, and is being sold as a collectible for display only. I think it would look lovely polished but I am leaving that decision to its new owner as some people prefer to see the original patina.
Approximate Size (WHD) with the switch horizontal: 9.8 x 4.3 x 8.9 cm
The Royal Navy Receiver C had a frequency range of 55-1400kc/s. A schematic of its component parts is appended, with the position (6) of the aerial switch 1549 marked by a red arrow. Further information about the Receiver C can be found at the excellent RN Communications Branch Museum / Library website.
