WW1 1917 Unipivot Brass Galvanometer No.452 MK II By Robert W Paul
This lovely antique military scientific instrument is a WW1 1917 Unipivot Brass Galvanometer No.452 MK II By Robert W Paul In A Leather Carry Case. This meter carries the military arrow ↑ on the rear.
- Diameter: 10.4 cm (~4")
- Depth: 4.7 cm
The leather transit case is in fairly good condition with a few surface scuffs and scratches.
At nearly 120 years old, the brass meter is in very good cosmetic condition with some surface scuffs and scratches, particularly where it has been in contact with the tightly fitted transit case.
It has not been tested but appears to be working: i.e. needle deflects. It has a mirror scale graduated 30..0..30. Depressing the button on the rear of the meter locks it and stops the needle from deflecting.
At some stage in its very long life, a couple of resistors have been professionally added, which I assume could be removed to restore it back to its original form, and D.C Volts 90 stencilled on the glass. The price has been adjusted as a consequence.
The Galvanometer has the following markings:-
II 452 Robt. W Paul. London .N . 1917
No. 2224
Patent
↑ (military arrow)
The Unipivot Galvanometer was invented by Robert W. Paul in 1903; his company became Cambridge Instrument Company (CI.Co) in 1919.
A lovely addition to a vintage technology or militaria collection!
