Wedgwood Blue Jasperware Small Pottery Quartz Mantel Clock
I love Jasper ware and this is a nice example of a Wedgwood Blue Jasperware Small Pottery Quartz Mantel Clock, with white Greek-themed figures in Bas-relief.
Approximate Dimensions (I did mention that its quite small...)
- Height: 8.5 cm
- Base depth: 2.6cm
- Base width: 7.4 cm
Wedgwood, Made In England, is impressed on the back of the clock. The case is in very good condition, with no restoration work, cracks or chips; it does have a few minor surface blemishes.
The quartz clock movement has a gold coloured surround, white face and black hands/ Roman numerals. It is marked 'Wedgwood' and 'Quartz'. It is powered by a watch battery which has just been replaced. The movement can be removed from the case to change the time or when the battery needs replacing.
A perfect size for the bedside table or a kitchen shelf.

Some Trivia For You!
Jasperware is the most famous of Josiah Wedgwood’s inventions. It first appeared in 1774 after he had conducted thousands of experiments.
An unglazed vitreous fine stoneware made in blue, green, lilac, yellow, black or white; one piece could combine three or more of these colours. According to Wedgwood’s own website, the classical and contemporary reliefs are still made today from moulds reproduced from the originals.
