Vintage Wonder Agral SNCF French Railway Signalling Industrial Lantern
This is a very unusual Vintage Wonder Agral SNCF French Railway Signalling Industrial Lantern.
They were used as a signalling lamp by the French Railway, SNCF, in the 1950s/60s. It is being sold as a collectible for display purposes only but is 'new old stock.'
Approximate Size:
- Width: 11 cm
- Height: 15 cm (excluding the handle and switch)
- Depth: 13cm
In very good condition with a few storage scuffs/blemishes. The inside of the battery box is pristine and the removable back panel is marked with the type of bulb (Wonder Venus) and battery (Wonder Fanal) required: now obsolete.
It requires a large 6LR20 battery (not included) and I've no idea whether or not it is working. A lovely piece of railwayana!
The torch (flashlight) is made from a non-ferrous metal (aluminium) with a brown crackle glaze. The waterproof case comprises two parts held by locking screws. It has a red lens on the rear and clear lens on the face.
The face is marked WONDER, and the back reads WONDER Type AGRAL Bte SGDG: Bte SGDG is a type of patent . The back can be removed to reveal the battery housing and the handle can be folded down.
