Vintage Wates 3 in 1 Pocket Volt Amp meter With A Resistance Of 5000 Ohms
This 1920s/ 1930s Vintage Wates 3 in 1 Pocket Volt Amp meter With A Resistance Of 5000 Ohms is a wonderful little device. It has a black coated metal case and comes with its original box, which has discoloured with age.
The unit has not been tested and is being sold as a collectible, for display only. It is in very good cosmetic condition but with a few scuffs and some loss of black coating, commensurate with age and use.
Patent no. 322558 (Dates to 1928, filed by Frank Stanley Spooner Wates, whom worked for Riley Motors at the time)
A nice addition to a vintage technology collection or would make a great desk ornament with suitable support: (It is unable to stand upright unaided).
The pocket Volt/Amp meter measured the following:-
- 0-30 Milliamps Low Tension
- 0-150 Volts (R=5000Ω) high tension (Red lead to positive)
- 0-6 Volts Low Tension (Black lead to positive)
