Vintage Motorways of Stroud kit Foden Lorry

This is a very nice Vintage Model Foden Lorry By Motorways of Stroud.  It dates to about the 1970s. These were a short-lived, very high end specification, model kit. The detailing is exquisite. They are also quite rare. This particular white metal model kit was assembled by my ‘other half’ in the early 1980s.

The model is in very good condition and has been stored in a shoe box for the past thirty years. There are a few minor scuffs on the surface of the lorry. One of the tyres is also split.

Approximate size:-

• Length: 19cm (7.5″)
• Width: 5cm (~ 2″ outside of tyre to outside of tyre)
• Height: 6cm (~ 2.4″ wheel base to top of cab roof)

The lorry is a model of the ‘Robsons Of Carlisle’ Border Marquis, registration number ONB299 (see photograph below).

Some Trivia For You

‘Robsons of Carlisle’ were a haulage company based in the North of England. The livery of their trucks was maroon and cream. All the lorries were named “Border xxxxx” e.g. Border Spartan, Border Hunter, Border Pageant, Border Prince: and this was long before Eddie Stobart had the same idea!
