Vintage Mem Dix Ceramic Electrical Fuse Box
This wonderful looking object is a Vintage MEM DIX Ceramic Electrical Fuse Box: two-way. It dates to approximately 1910-1930.
The following is embossed on the face:-
Pull on Push off
Mem Dix
10 Amps 350 Volts
and on the rear:
BS-38/2
Made in England
Approximate Size: 7.8 (3") x 7.8 x 5.0 cm
In pretty good condition but does have a slight crack in one side of the porcelain, and a few nibbles on the knob and corners of the box.
The item has not been electrically tested and would not meet current electricity standards and legislation. It is being sold as a collectible only.
MEM (Midland Electric Manufacturing Co) was founded in 1908 by Walter Barber, and were manufacturers of electrical appliances and switchgear. The company was originally situated in Reddings Lane, Tyseley, Birmingham, and 25 Old Street, London, EC1 (1937)
