Vintage Hacker Herald RP37A VHF/FM Transistor Radio
This is a very impressive, working, Blue and White Vintage Hacker Herald RP37A VHF/FM Transistor Radio.
Battery powered, this portable model was only made for a short period about 1970 by Hacker Radio Ltd, Maidenhead, UK. Hackers were a luxury product praised for their build quality and superb sound: every radio collector and home should have at least one!
Condition
- This example is in fairly good cosmetic and working condition with a blue leatherette covered case showing all cream knobs and chrome trims present. The chrome has slightly pitted with age.
- Being picky, there are a few scuffs/blemishes on the fabric with some pale black stains on the front. I have gently cleaned the stains with water only and some of the black did come off. A more stringent clean may improve their appearance further but I'll leave that to its new owner as I don't want to risk rubbing off the blue dye ...
- The rexine is intact but loose and discoloured in places, particularly at the edges of the handle and on the front near the grille.
- Unlike some of the later Hackers presented for sale, the printed top plate has unmarred print and is free from significant scratching all of which presents a well cared for, scarce, vintage radio.
