Vintage Hacker Helmsman SW1 SW2 SW3 MW LW Transistor Radio
This is a very impressive, working, 1960s Black Vintage Hacker Helmsman SW1 SW2 SW3 MW LW Transistor Radio. Battery powered, this portable model was only made for a short period from 1967 by Hacker Radio Ltd, Maidenhead, UK.
Hackers were a luxury product praised for their build quality and superb sound: every radio collector and home should have at least one!
Condition
- This example is in very good cosmetic and working condition with a black leatherette covered case showing all knobs and trims present. There are a few minor scuffs/blemishes
- Unlike some of the later Hackers presented for sale, the printed top plate has unmarred print and is free from significant scratching all of which presents a well cared for, scarce, vintage radio.

- Portable Hacker Helmsman Radio model RP36 with 11 transistors
- Batteries/ Cells - requires eight 1.5V batteries. Please note that the cells/ batteries are not included but are readily available to buy on the internet.

- Sockets: for tape recorder, earphone, external aerial SW, external aerial LW/MW,
- Superheterodyne (common); ZF/IF 470 kHz
- Wavebands: LW, MW, SW1, SW2, SW3 covering Marine bands 63-190 meters, which are now obsolete. The radio was named Helmsman as it covered marine bands.
