Vintage Decca London Blue Cartridge
This Vintage Decca London Blue Cartridge with spherical stylus is in good used condition, and comes with its original red plastic protective cover. It is also known as the Decca Mark V.
Please note: There are no additional accessories with this cartridge i.e. mounting screws or connection block, and it hasn't been used for many years: it could possibly need a service.
Dating to the 1970s, the cartridge has some scuffs/loss of coating from contact with the cover. It doesn't appear to have a serial number.
As with all the Decca London series, this cartridge has three connecting pins.
It is marked with:-
- Brit Pat 856829/856997 (these are Decca GB patents dating to 1957 and 1958 respectively)
In the 1960s, Decca commenced production of a series of stereo cartridges and heads that could also be used with another manufacturer's pick up arm/tone arm. The series commenced with the Mark IV cartridge, and was followed by the London Blue, with a reduced cartridge mass and spherical stylus, in 1974. Further improvements were made with the introduction of the London Maroon with spherical stylus and the London Gold with an elliptical stylus.
