Vintage Anglepoise 1227 1960s Black Desk Lamp With Black Flex

This is a really nice, original, Vintage Anglepoise 1227 1960s Black Desk Lamp With Black Flex, chrome bulb holder and springs, and two tier base. The bottom of the base is covered with green felt.

Country of origin: Made in England by Herbert Terry & Sons Ltd, Redditch

Condition: In fairly good original condition, with surface scratches / blemishes, and some loss of paint on the lamp shade and parts of the arms and base commensurate with age and use. The lamp shade is also slightly out of shape.

For over 70 years, Anglepoise has created table lamps and table lights that are now British design classics. This particular example is in original condition but has been rewired with black braided flex, and fitted with a modern UK plug to ensure that it is electrically safe and energy efficient. It has also been successfully electrically tested (PAT).

It would suit all sorts of rooms in the home, in addition to the office and workshop.

The quintessentially British three-spring 1227 design was invented in 1935 by the renowned engineer, George Carwardine, and the model is still going strong today!
