1950s Portable Marilyn Transistor Radio

This vintage 1950s Portable Marilyn Transistor Radio is housed in a wood cabinet originally covered in red leatherette, now faded to red/brown, with cream and gold accents. The cream areas have yellowed with age, as have the white plastic (bakelite) grille, knobs and selector buttons.

It is in working order on all wavebands (SW1/SW2/MW), as well as being in fairly good cosmetic condition with a few scuffs/blemishes and discolouration on both the red and cream/white leatherette: there is slight corrosion around the metal parts of the handle.

• Requires a 9 volt PP9 battery/cell (not supplied due to the difficulty in shipping items with batteries).
• Sporting a cream/white plastic carry handle, it stands on four metal feet
• The top of the radio is red/brown in colour with cream accents.
• The radio is complete with original volume and tuning knobs, and buttons for the three wavebands SW1, SW2 and MW.
  

The radio is a bit of a mystery as I don't know who made it or where it was made! I've only found another two similar Marilyn radios on the internet with no further information supplied. Was the manufacturer called Marilyn? Is it a radio named after Marilyn Monroe? Any information on this radio would be most gratefully received...
