Victorian Mason's Ironstone Style Lidded Pottery Cheese / Butter Dish
I love this large Victorian Mason's Ironstone Style Lidded Pottery Cheese / Butter Dish! It could possibly be by Mason but there is no back mark on the china and I cannot find a pattern name.
The lid is a beautiful design with a mix of purple-pink flowers and black leaves. The scalloped edged bottom plate is cream with the same purple-pink flowers decorating each corner. It is not perfect and has manufacturing defects but no cracks, chips or restoration.
The overall Height (base to handle) of the dish is approximately 13.5cm, and the maximum width 18.2cm and length 21.3cm.
Lid
- The lid is in good cosmetic condition for its age with no chips, cracks or restoration.
- There is some crazing to the glaze and manufacturing defects (including bubbles and slight misprint in the transfer printed leaves).
- Measures approximately: 16.5cm (Length) x 12.5cm (Width) x 11.5cm (Height)
Plate
- The bottom plate is crazed with black engrained scratches. It has manufacturing defects, including air bubbles.
- Measures approximately: 18.2cm (Width) x 21.3cm (length) x 2cm/ 0.8″ (Height)
The price has been reduced to account for the defects.
This large Butter/Cheese dish makes a wonderful display item and would look great on a sideboard, on a Welsh dresser or the Afternoon Tea Table!
