Vector Instruments A100R Switching Anemometer

This is a very nice, boxed, Vector Instruments A100R Switching Anemometer.

It is a small piece of Meterological Equipment which measures average run speed ("run of wind") when connected to an output measuring device, eg. an electronic counter or data logger (not included).

Made by Vector Instruments (Windspeed Ltd) of Marsh Road, Rhyl, North Wales, whom still make, repair and calibrate this model of anemometer.

We are not sure if it was ever used in earnest, as it is in such good condition, but it comes with:- 

• Its original box (WHD): 32.5 x 8.2 x 16.5 cm (excluding cable)
• Type A100R/12M anemometer and cable, serial number 9465: I think the 12M probably refers to the length of attached cable, which I've not measured
• Type R30 rotor with re-calibration certificate (dating to 14/08/09)
  
• 405 Series Mast top adapter
• 3-cup yellow plastic vanes: 5 cm diameter

The rotor drives an actuator in a magnet system. The change in field operates the reed switch, opening and closing the contact once per revolution, which can then be detected.

It would make a great small garden feature, even if you don’t connect it to an output device. I like to watch the vane spinning around in the wind! A must have for the meteorologist or anemometer collector in the family!
