A working, (calibrated and standardised), electrically tested, flagship VCM163 AVO Valve Characteristic Meter Valve / Vacuum Tube Tester; made by AVO, London, UK. If you regularly need to test valves/vacuum tubes to a high standard, then this laboratory-quality testing instrument is a must-have. They are quite rare to find in such good working condition.

As this delicate standardised instrument weighs nearly 20Kg, it will be personally delivered to the purchaser, within Mainland UK only, free of charge. International customers: please see note in red below.

In good used cosmetic condition with a few blemishes, scratches and scuffs on the external surfaces commensurate with age and use.  All controls operate smoothly. This instrument has been serviced and calibrated to the recognised standard by Mike Barker of B.V.W.S (British Vintage Wireless Society). 

An AVO operating manual and an AVO valve data manual (edition 20) are both included in the price of the VCM 163.

The AVO VCM 163 is one of the few valve/tube testers able to measure both anode current (Ia: in mA) and mutual conductance (Gm in mA/V) simultaneously. The VCM 163 was the final, and best, valve/tube tester ever built by AVO from 1966 to the 1970s.

PAT Test
The 240 volt valve tester has been electrically tested using a flagship Seaward Europa PAT tester, and passed the UK Portable Appliance Inspection (PAT test).
