Racal UK PTC-404 Field Telephone Made For The British MOD
Pre-owned Racal UK PTC-404 Field Telephone Made For The British MOD, and in very good cosmetic condition. It comes in its original Nylon carry bag, and with a detachable strap, telephone handset, and a tube for battery storage.
Designed in the 1970s, they were in use to the 2010s. They had three modes of operation; Normal, whisper, and test. The latter, test, was used to ensure that there was a communications link and to test operation.
Operational range is purported to be approx. 10 miles, and they were made to be water and dust proof; though I wouldn't want to try submerging it in water...
