This is a lovely Antique Wood Rectangular Draughtsman's Storage Box dating to the 1910s.
Originally used for storing, for example, Engineering Draughtsman's rules/ rolling rule or French/ Railway Curves, the contents are long gone. It closes via two hooks on the outside case.
It would also make a great storage case for calligraphy, artist's paintbrushes, cotton reels, screwdrivers etc. But perhaps is a bit large for use as a pencil box.

Internal (WHD): 33 x 7.8 (excluding the lid recess) x 9.2 cm
It is not without imperfections including marks and surface blemishes on the surface, and staining/marks on the inside. However, this adds to its character. The external surfaces have been lightly oiled and smell wonderful, if you like the smell of Danish Oil...
