AM Aircraft Cockpit Dual Scale (A/B) Exhaust Temperature Gauge 6A/1674
This is a vintage, twin pointer, Air Ministry, AM Aircraft Cockpit dual scale (A/B) Exhaust Temperature Gauge 6A/1674 or Exhaust Gas Thermometer.
In poor- fair cosmetic condition, with some surface blemishes and rust on the sides of the meter. Part of the bakelite is missing from one of the rear screws. The price has been adjusted accordingly. It has not been tested and is sold as a collectable for display only.
It was probably made by Kelvin Hughes (KB), (there is no maker's mark), for a 1950s era Military Aircraft e.g. English Electric Canberra jet bomber. Please see attached image of a Canberra cockpit with a yellow arrow pointing to a similar meter, and an image of a Canberra in flight.
Approximate Size:
- Face Diameter: 7 cm
- Depth: 6cm
Marked:-
- EXH ℃ x 100
- Scale A 4-7 and Scale B 4-7
- 6A/1674 (where 6A is the RAF stores number for Aircraft Engine and Flying Instruments, Accessories and Spares)
- With the military broad arrow on the rear⬆ and the number 383/51 (dating the gauge to 1951)
Despite its cosmetics, it's still a very nice aviation collectable!
