1970s Benkson 79 Portable Transistor Tape Recorder

This small, battery powered, vintage 1970s Benkson 79 Portable Transistor Tape Recorder is neatly fitted within its own black leatherette covered metal case.  It even comes with its original white lapel microphone and instructions.

Made in Japan, under the Benkson label for B. Benkert Ltd, Essex, UK, it is being sold as a collectible for display only as we don't have any 3" tape reels to properly test the tape recorder / player.

However, it is in pretty good cosmetic condition with some surface scuffs/blemishes, and some rust /dings on the metal trim. Both the audio and motor seem to be working as you can hear squelch and the reel spindles are turning. It is likely that the motor belts will need changing, as you might expect from something of this age.
