1960s Type 1602-B General Radio Company UHF Admittance Meter
This strange looking instrument is a 1960s Type 1602-B General Radio Company UHF Admittance Meter Serial Number: 4221. It could measure admittance and impedance, and be used to determine the reflection coefficient on a 50-ohm coaxial line.
In fairly good condition, with some surface blemishes, it is supplied unboxed and without any additional accessories. It has not been tested.
Approximate Size:
- Base Width: 9 cm
- Base Depth: 13.4 cm
- Max. Depth: 14cm
- Max. Height: 17.5cm
- Max. Diameter: 12.5cm
Instruction manuals are available to download from the internet.
The 1602-B measured admittance (0.01 to 10,000mmho) and impedance over a wide frequency range (40-1.5GHz) in antennas and transmission lines. As a null instrument it also measured the conductance and susceptance (+/- 200 mmho) of an unknown circuit directly.
Millimhos, or mmho, is an old unit of electric conductance equal to one thousandth of a mho. It is used to measure how well a material can conduct electricity.
1 mho = 1 siemens = Ω-1
