1950s Rabone 3ft Box Wood & Brass Folding Ruler

This beautiful ruler is a 1950s Rabone 3ft Box Wood & Brass Folding Ruler. Folds into quarters via brass hinges and is scaled in inches. It is numbered 1167. 

A much loved and well used 36 inch ruler with a few scuffs, scratches and stains: it has a wonderful patina. Dating to the late 1940s/early 1950s, it belonged to a draughting Engineer. 

It was made in England by John Rabone and sons, of Hockley Abbey Works, Whitmore Street, Birmingham. A manufacturer of high quality spirit levels, rules and rulers which was established in the 1700s by Michael Rabone.
