1950s PK Cottage Ware Pottery Biscuit Barrel With Lid And Basket Handle By Price Kensington

This is a lovely kitsch vintage 1950s PK Cottage Ware Pottery Biscuit Barrel With Lid And Basket Handle By Price Kensington, manufactured in Staffordshire, England.

It is in fairly good condition, with no restoration work, cracks or chips. There is some age related crazing and staining, particularly on one corner of the base.

Base Width: 10.6cm
Base Depth: 10.8cm
Height (including lid): 14cm
Length (Handle to spout): 17cm

It is impressed on the base with Made in England and, (very faintly), with ‘Ye Olde Cottage Ware,’ which describes it perfectly as it is the archetypical English cottage with country cottage flowers and thatched roof.

The maker’s mark on the base was used by Price Brothers from the 1950s.

A wonderful collector’s item or statement piece on your afternoon tea tray!

Price Bros was an earthenware manufacturer that was established at the Crown Works, Burslem, Staffordshire, England, 1896. After 1903, the company continued as Price Bros (Burslem) Ltd at a different works and changed it’s name again in 1962 to Price and Kensington Potteries Ltd. They are mainly known for their ‘cottage ware’ teapots.
