This lovely looking object is a 1950s Model 55 Truvox Cabinet Loudspeaker With A Monobolt BX52 Speaker.
It hasn't been tested and is sold as a collectible for display only.

This small enclosed table top speaker was designed for use as a radio extension speaker, especially in the office environment e.g. for use with dictaphones, and even has a brown bakelite volume control knob on the side.
The cabinet is made from wood, and is black on the sides and brown on the face and rear. In good original condition with a few scuff marks on the body. The speaker is a Monobolt BX52 5" speaker designed in 1949 before Rola Celestion UK was merged with the Truvox business by the founder of Truvox, D Prenn.
