1950s Marconi Bronze/copper Microphone Tin
This is an unusual, square, 1950s Marconi Bronze/copper Microphone Tin. I'm not sure what type of metal it is but it looks to be bronze or bronzed copper. The iconic Marconi Logo dates the tin to about the 1940s/50s. It is lined with a copper-brown felt, which is also used on the base, and is pretty heavy.
* Approximate Size:-
Height: 5.5cm
Width:- 10.2cm
In fairly good condition, the metal is pitted and has surface blemishes/scratches. These defects don't detract from the wonderful patina. The lid is a good fit for the base.
I've called it a microphone tin, as someone mentioned that Marconi did sell special microphones in expensive containers, but it could also be a desk tidy or a cigarette container!
A lovely, rare, Marconi collectible for the vintage office or electronic history aficionado.
