1950s Ever Ready Toy Electric Car Austin A70 Made of Early Plastic
This strange looking model is a 1950s Ever Ready Toy Electric Car Austin A70 Made of Early Plastic e.g Casein or perhaps Ivorine.
It's not in the greatest condition and is being sold as a project for major restoration/ spares/repairs.
There are no obvious makers' marks, but I understand that it was probably made by Palitoy, on behalf of Ever Ready (UK). Two versions were available, one driven by remote control, and the other by a large boot handle. I think this one is a remote control version. Quite an expensive toy when new, and pretty rare now.
Ever Ready is the company better known for making torches and batteries.
Approximate Size (WHD): 16.8 x 7 x 6.8 cm
It has Aus 70 embossed on the front bumper
- The body is discoloured and has distorted due to the nature of the delicate plastic used in manufacture.
- The rear wheels need to be refitted to the drive.
- Requires 2 x U11 Ever Ready Batteries (not included)
- The front bumper is loose
- There is no remote control
- There are parts missing e.g. the back bumper but I can't specify what else is absent.
- It comprises an Every Ready (UK) motor which would run off a battery to power the rear wheels.
- It has not been tested
The model is based on the Austin A70 Hampshire, and later Austin A70 Hereford, produced by the car manufacturer Austin (UK) from 1948 until 1954.
