1940s Shirley Wellard Universal Reloadable 35mm Film Cassette
Just what every analogue photographer needs, a new, old stock, 1940s Shirley Wellard Universal Reloadable 35mm Film Cassette.
In good, unused, condition, it comes in its original box but without instructions, however, I have included a set of instructions amongst the photographs. The box is intact with surface scuffs and blemishes.
Beautifully engineered with a labyrinth design, this reusable Shirley-Wellard cassette was designed in Shirley, West Midlands, UK. It was distributed by KG Corfield Ltd, a UK based camera and lens manufacturer, with designs based on Leica cameras; later known for Gandolfi Cameras.
Labyrinth cassettes have inner and outer layers which, when manually rotated, form an open slot which accepts the film tongue so that the film passes between the inner and outer shells. Once opened in the camera, using the unwind/rewind knob, the film has an unrestricted, and scratch-free, path between the feed and take-up spool.
