1940s MW /LW Crystal Radio In A Bakelite Case
This is a lovely 1930s / 1940s MW /LW Crystal Radio In A Bakelite Case. It hasn't been tested.
Beautifully made, the manufacturer is unknown but it could even be homemade. Although, there may be signs of a label having been attached to the inside of the lid. Fitted with a sturdy non-ferrous metal clasp and hinges.
Approximate Case Size including the leather handle and rubber feet:-
- Depth : 20.6 cm
- Width: 20 cm
- Height: 11 cm
The set comprises:
- Bakelite switches, and large bakelite knob set on a white early plastic protractor for tuning.
- Aerial and headphone connection points
- MW/LW switch
- On/Off switch
I've been unable to open the paxolin cover to the radio base. The outer case is made from brown bakelite; it can stand either horizontally or vertically on its rubber covered feet.
In fairly good cosmetic condition:-
- One of the rubber feet is missing
- The bakelite has scratches and surface blemishes
A very nice addition to a radio collection.
