1940s MW /LW Crystal Radio In A Bakelite Case

This is a lovely 1930s / 1940s MW /LW Crystal Radio In A Bakelite Case. It hasn't been tested.

Beautifully made, the manufacturer is unknown but it could even be homemade. Although, there may be signs of a label having been attached to the inside of the lid. Fitted with a sturdy non-ferrous metal clasp and hinges.

Approximate Case Size including the leather handle and rubber feet:-

• Depth : 20.6 cm
• Width: 20 cm
• Height: 11 cm

The set comprises:

• Bakelite switches, and large bakelite knob set on a white early plastic protractor for tuning.
• Aerial and headphone connection points
• MW/LW switch
• On/Off switch

I've been unable to open the paxolin cover to the radio base. The outer case is made from brown bakelite; it can stand either horizontally or vertically on its rubber covered feet.

In fairly good cosmetic condition:-

• One of the rubber feet is missing
• The bakelite has scratches and surface blemishes

A very nice addition to a radio collection.
