1940s Lincoln City Pole Top Bus Stop Sign
This great looking, and unusual shaped, transport sign is a cast aluminium 1940s Lincoln City Pole Top Bus Stop Sign.
Since this is a well known tourist area, (famous for its Mediaeval architecture, and beautiful Cathedral and Castle), the bus stops were a little fancier than normal signs. The red cross on the white background of the shield is based on the City of Lincoln’s coat of arms.
Dating to the 1950s, this wonderful Bus Stop sign is double-sided with a spherical base where it attached to a pole.
There are quite a few scuffs on the sign, and significant paint loss on one side, but generally it’s in pretty reasonable used condition. A very nice addition to a sign collection or an interesting garden feature!
