1940s Grampian DP2 Dynamic Microphone
This vintage 1940s Grampian DP2 Dynamic Microphone was made by Grampian Reproducers Ltd, Feltham, Middlesex, England.
A heavy moving-coil P.A microphone, in bronze/brown colour, it has an Art Deco style chrome grille frontage. It is sold without a stand and is untested. This model of microphone is similar to, or possibly the same as, the Grampian DPL.
In very good used condition, the chrome grille is intact and bright with a small loss of the paint on the outside of the microphone. The original box is slightly tatty with discolouration, rips and tears.
The number 14700 is engraved on the connector and written on the label on the box.
Approximate Dimensions:
- Face Diameter: 6.5cm
- Total Length: 18.5cm
- Length (Microhone Head only): 9cm
This type of Grampian Personal Address (P.A) Microphone was used by Winston Churchill on his address to the nation on VE day, 1945, announcing the end of WW2 in Europe. The actual microphone used by Winston Churchill purportedly sold for £19,000 in 2005!
