1940s Anglepoise 1227 Desk Lamp With Bakelite Shade, Crackle Glaze Paint And White Flex
If you are seeking some unique and novel lighting for your home then you can't go wrong with this lovely restored 1940s Anglepoise 1227 Desk Lamp With Bakelite Shade, Crackle Glaze Paint And White Flex.
This rare restored Anglepoise has:-
- An original bakelite shade (which is cracked but has been repaired)
- New blue/white crackle glaze paint
- Rewired with vintage style three core white braided flex.
- New grommets
- New chrome bulb holder
- An energy efficient LED bulb.
It is very unusual to find an Anglepoise with a bakelite shade. They were only used for a short period of time after WW2 when aluminium was still in short supply. The brown bakelite proved easy to mould but often cracked in transit. This lamp does have a repaired crack in the bakelite which does not detract from the overall appearance of the lamp. As well as having the very scarce bakelite shade, the flex wires in the upper arms have side exit holes rather than the usual rear exit holes - see photograph.
Fitted with a modern UK plug to ensure that it is electrically safe and energy efficient. It has also been successfully electrically tested (PAT).
This is a truly unique desk lamp! It would suit all sorts of rooms in the home, in addition to the office and workshop.
