1940s Admiralty Pattern 1271 Buzzer Repeater And Key Unit Group 11 No.2 MK II WT 8 Amp

This is a quite rare, Royal Navy, WW2 1940s Admiralty Pattern 1271 Buzzer Repeater And Key Unit Group 11 No.2 MK II WT 8 Amp WER 12705.

So called as, on receiving a message on the ship's radio, it would flash a light, buzz via the earphone or send morse code via the incorporated morse key.

In fairly good condition with a few scratches and surface blemishes, particularly on the bakelite knob. It is missing its miniature bulb, which I think is a B15 bayonet fitting and indicator lamp style.

Approximate measurements:

  • Base Width: 7.6cm (~3")
  • Base Length:- 16.6cm
  • Height including earphone: 8cm
WT 8 Amp Morse keys were used in all branches of the Armed Forces during WW2 but only two types were used in a Naval application.

This 1271 unit comprises:-
  • A Group 11 WT 8 Amp No2 Mk II Morse Key
  • 10A/7790 brown bakelite knob as used on the RAF 'Bathtub' key 10F/7741
  • Single earphone headpiece
  • Miniature bayonet Bulb holder
  • Admiralty Pattern 5000 switch
  • Tufnol Base
  • Brass Label engraved:-
