1940s ACWEECO Universal AVO Minor Moving Coil Multimeter

This amazing little gadget is a 1940s ACWEECO Universal AVO Minor Moving Coil Multimeter.

A wonderful piece of electronic history, it comes with its original cardboard box, 3 mm probes and instruction booklet. It does appear to be working but is being sold as a collectible only. 

It measures:-

• DC Volts: 5, 25, 100, 250, 500 
  
• DC mA: 2.5, 5, 25, 100, 500 
  
• AC Volts: 5, 25, 100, 250, 500 
  
• Non-linear scale for 5 volts A.C
  
• Resistance 0- 20k ohm 
  

The instrument was designed to take an EverReady U10 battery, which is now obsolete, and is not included.  An AA cell could be used with, for example, a spacer or modified spring.

The meter is in extremely good cosmetic condition with some surface scuffs and blemishes. The outer case is made from cardboard and has numerous repairs, scuffs and blemishes commensurate with age and storage conditions.
