1935 George V Silver Jubilee Mug By Taylor & Kent Pottery

This lovely little collectible is a 1935 George V Silver Jubilee Mug By Taylor & Kent Pottery. It commemorates the 25th anniversary (1910-1935) of the accession of King George V and Queen Mary to the throne.

Approximate Size
Height: 9.1cm
Base Diameter: 7.5cm

It is in fair vintage condition with no cracks or restoration. It is discoloured on the base, and does have surface scuffs and scratches commensurate with age and use.

It was made in Longton, Staffordshire, England, by the Potters, Taylor & Kent. Founded in 1876, their name change to Elizabethan Fine Bone China Ltd in 1982 and they have since closed. This was an official design made by several British potteries and is marked on the base with the logo of the British Pottery Manufacturers federation.

This particular mug was “Presented by the Mayor and Mayoress of Pudsey, Councillor and Mrs John B. Ward.” To whom, I have no idea! At that time the town of Pudsey, half way between Leeds and Bradford in West Yorkshire, was an independent borough. It became part of Leeds with the boundary changes in 1974. Pudsey gave its name to the mascot of the charity “Children In Need’ Pudsey bear.
